Save for a rainy day ***

It is not easy to earn money. When you think of how hard it is to earn money, you should not spend it frivolously. Whatever money you can save, you can accumulate over a period of time, can become a reasonable sum. But once you have spent it, money will never come back. It is advisable to have a budget. The best guiding principle is to spend less than what you have earned.

Financial planning ***

You are not following a good plan if your expenditures exceed your income. Ii is equally unsound to spend money without any limit. Spending money on alcohol and tobacco is not the best way to use your money. Continuously spending money on satisfying unnecessary desires is dangerous. You cannot know when you will have either happy or sad days. It is therefore better to have a financial plan and save up a cushion for a rainy day. Also, it is always good to be contented with what you have. In this way, you will be happier.

Daily Advice September 28, 2012 中秋節 The Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival ***

We should celebrate the full Moon Festival and wish all lovers in the world the understanding that meeting your partner is fate, and to be able to be together is a blessing. Always maintain mutual respect and say sweet words to each other with a smile. Love and support each other. Be happy to go through thin and thick for the rest of your lives.

Candlelight dinner ***

We all should celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with candle and wine for dinner. Let’s have a romantic evening and whisper to each other saying that “I love you.” Let’s walk along the beach after dinner hand in hand and shoulder on shoulder. It is understood that we are deeply in love without saying it loud.

Turn around and look back at your past

Turn around and look back at your past ***

Sometimes it is good to turn around and look back at your past. You will realize when you were young, your priority was to look for true love. When you reached middle-age, you worked hard day and night to make a living and didn’t pay attention to your health. When you had money, you ate and drank freely to the point of exhaustion. Only when you were sick, did you start to worry that you might be heading to the end of your life journey. Not only that, you finally began to realize that you may not have really enjoyed a meaningful life.

Having a good partner ***

It is indeed a gift from heaven if you have a good partner, walking together hand in hand, along your life journey. When you are tired, both of you can rest together. When you are thirsty, both of you can have a drink. When you are hungry, enjoy a bowl of noodles together. You may exhaust your body but most importantly you have a relaxing life.

Everything is in front of you

Everything is in front of you ***

Someday in the future, everything in front of you now will disappear. If you feel today is a gray day. Tomorrow can be a bright day. Again if today is a dull day, being dull can also be a blessing in disguise. As long as you have a good family, you should set aside everything else, and enjoy their company. Such an opportunity is already a kind of good luck.

Listen to your destiny ***

Who doesn’t want to be successful? Unfortunately there isn’t any 100% sure-win strategy. As long as you are not arrogant, never give up, and put in your best efforts in achieving your personal goal and, if you have done all these things, you should be satisfied and let your destiny lead its way.

Floating in rivers and lakes

Floating in rivers and lakes ***

Today some people feel like floating in rivers and lakes, not knowing the direction they are taking, but hoping someday in the future that they will be living in a paradise. No matter how they feel, and what they think, everything seems to be pre-arranged in their destiny. Therefore, there is no reason to grieve about life but treasure what you currently have at this moment. Enjoy every second of your life and appreciate what you experience now.

Working together wholeheartedly

Husbands and wives should work together wholeheartedly. Regardless of how bad their situation is, they should not be separated. They need to show their true love by sharing both good times and bad times together without any complaints. Only if they can do that, will they walk hand in hand together through any adversity.

Making the right to choose ***

If you look at a distressed situation from a different angle, you may devise a different remedy. You are in control of how you want to view things. You can choose to view things with a negative attitude resulting in wearing a sad face or you can choose to be optimistic and engender less stress in handling everything.

When you are sad, it is time to clean up your negative emotions. Get rid of all your unhappy feelings about things that are distasteful, unpleasant matters, worrisome matters, and things that make you feel hurt. If you can clean up all these unpleasant feelings, you will have an open mind and be happy again.

If you have a heart full of compassion and are willing to help others, other people will get benefits and you will derive comfort and satisfaction. Life is more meaningful and also is both fun and interesting if you can offer a hand to people who need it.

Tranquility ***

If you want to develop tranquility inside yourself, you need to get rid of all hatred inside you. Instead of hating others, offer your love. But the love you offer should not be a selfish one, but should be a boundless love. If you do this, you will be tranquil.

Can’t keep two Tigers in one ambit

Daily Advice

Can’t keep two Tigers in one ambit ***

There is a common saying that you can’t keep two tigers in one ambit. Similarly this rule applies to any work place. If there are two political parties, there will always be conflict. Both parties will take action to fight against each other until one party is subjugated. Who is going to win depends on who has a better strategy. Even though you may be a brave person, you can only win if you have a working strategy otherwise you will never win.

Give in ***

If you agree to give in, that does not mean you are a weak person. A gentleman usually has a broad mind and is willing to give in at times. He will take into account what is best for the group and willing to discard any hatred he may have against anyone in the group. If one can stop haggling over everything, will there be no fatal embrace.

Put in extra efforts ***

Have you ever thought of what you need to make you happy, to enhance your personal character, to help you advance your career or who can help you to be a successful person? Try your best to find out the answer. If you know the answer, follow the right path, put in extra efforts and you will succeed.

Everything is as you wish ***

If you have a positive attitude towards work, you will find passionate interest in your job. Naturally your production rate will be high and you will boost up your own confidence. Gradually you will have confidence in your company and it will become easier to get along with your colleagues. Under such conditions, everything will turn out to be as you wish.

Daily common mistakes

Daily Advice

Author: Philip Chan
goodadvicechan@yahoo.com

Daily common mistakes ***

One of our daily common mistakes includes recognizing familiar errors but not being willing to correct them. People are in the habit of insisting on their own opinions and never listen to other people’s ideas. Needless to say, they never accept the advice of others. Based on their limited wisdom, they will blindly move ahead to do what they want to do. Ultimately, not only will they get hurt, other people may be hurt by them too. It is better to review prior decisions frequently, and understand this shortcoming.

Change your bad habits ***

Although bad habits are hard to correct, one must try one’s best to correct them. If people are oblivious to their bad habits, they may not realize that they are going through a painful experience. Don’t fool yourself but admit the need to change such bad habits. The sooner you correct your bad habits, the sooner you will be able to move forward and have a new future.

Wait a minute ***

“Wait a minute” is a good clause to remember. It helps you to keep you calm. It will dispel your indignant disposition. Why don’t you try to remind yourself with “Wait a minute” when you are about to get angry? Such a reminder may give you an unexpected peaceful feeling.

Politeness ***

Politeness is always welcome. When you are in public area, you must follow the local decorum. When you are waiting for service, don’t push around but line up properly for your turn. Always say “Thank you” when you are being served. When accidentally bumping into people, remember to say “Excuse me.” A simple phrase like “Thank you” or “Excuse me” will make everyone feel comfortable to be around you.

Adversity can be a kind of blessing in disguise

GREETINGS FROM HONG KONG

Adversity can be a kind of blessing in disguise ***

You may not agree that adversity is a valuable experience. Adversity gives people a chance to change. In real life, sometimes something good can change into something bad. Yet something bad can change into something good too. As long as you allow yourself a second chance and look at adversity from a positive angle, you may find a solution to handle the adverse circumstances and turn the situation around.

Be alert at all times ***

If you are strong and able to endure hardship stoically, you will ultimately find that life can be sweet. But if you don’t know how to recognize your good fortune and enjoy life, you may end up feeling sad. Life is forever changing and the change is unpredictable. Therefore, even though you may be living in contentment, you should have a plan and be alert that there may be some danger ahead.

Choose happiness

Choose happiness ***

Happiness does not come from fame and wealth. Material comforts do not guarantee happiness. Happiness is not an entertainment. It has to come from within. It is a kind of wealth buried inside your heart. People have the right to choose happiness. It all depends on their attitude. If they maintain a positive attitude, they will be happy.

A relaxing life ***

Regardless what the environment is, being worry-free, of course, is good, but it doesn't guarantee happiness. On the contrary, if you are willing to accept reality, even if the environment is bad, you may still be cheerful. You still can relax and live happily.

Being in the workforce is like a contest

Greetings from Hong Kong

Being in the workforce is like a contest ***

Working in a workplace is like joining a race. If you are in the hot seat, you will be exposed and potentially can upset many people. You may become everyone’s target of attack. By contrast, if you are willing not to step forward, but take a more conservative approach, you can survive in a more comfortable atmosphere and finish your race.

Know what is happening ***

To survive is to know what is happening and go with the flow. The world is full of uncertainty. If you do not want to fail, you need to understand what the current trend is. Grasp the opportunity at that moment. At any time, ask yourself what you have done. Revaluate and correct both your words and actions. If you do that, you are embarking on the road to success.

Turn a situation around

Daily Advice

Author: Philip Chan
goodadvicechan@yahoo.com
www.good-advice-book.blogspot.com

Turn a situation around ***

When faced with adversity or a situation of failure, don’t be depressed and lose your sense of direction. The worst is to behave like dying embers and live in a dismal world. This type of behavior is definitely not the right approach to deal with such situations. What you should do is to maintain a positive attitude. Only with such an attitude, can you turn the situation around.

Contentment ***

Don’t ever ask for more. Just be content with what you have. Regardless what the environment is, always be optimistic. Don’t complain but be grateful for what is given to you. If you manage to behave like this, you will have a happy life.

Bright future ***

No matter what kind of trouble you may have, just keep an open mind until you figure out the details. If you can do that, your days ahead will be bright.

To forget is smart ***

Having the ability to forget requires an effort to develop such a skill. To forget is harder than to remember. If you want to practice humility, you must forget your glorious days. If you want to be generous, you must forget people’s misbehavior. If you want to show your compassionate love, you must forget all the attacks from your enemies.

A clear conscience ***

If you have excessively artificial behavior, you may not achieve any good results. This type of behavior may create harm to yourself. In a work place, sometimes retreating is a strategy to advance forward.

Don’t pull up seedlings to help them grow ***

Whatever you do, you cannot be impatient. You need to be practical and do it step by step. You cannot expect seedlings to grow taller if you pull them up. You need to think it through before you carry out any task, otherwise actions may be in vain. It is better to have a plan before you take action. Then, you must follow your plan. If you do that, you will pass with flying colors.

A frog in a well ***

Living in today’s fast changing world, you cannot behave like a frog in a well. You need to jump out of the shallow water in the well. Go out and explore the world around you. If you are willing to improve your knowledge and have a long term vision, you will be able to develop a good career. You can be a good citizen and serve your society.

Don’t go too far ***

When you pour water into any vessel, don’t fill it up to the top; otherwise you will spill the water. You need to understand that everything in life has a limit. In other words, learn to be content. If you learn that, then you will never get yourself into trouble and you can relax and live a leisurely life.

Being content brings happiness ***

The most valuable asset in life is to be contented. If you can control your desires, take everything in moderation and don’t chase after your frivolous desires, then you will not get yourself into trouble. Remember to be contented and you will have relaxing days.

Be thankful ***

People always tend to forget to be thankful. Instead, people tend to grieve over disappointments. They covet things that they have not owned. They don’t know how to treasure what they have and always look at the negative side of things. They never look at the bright side of things, searching for enjoyment in life but wear a sad face most of the times.

Keep a grateful heart ***

If you always maintain a grateful heart, you will be a happy person. Be grateful to God for granting you another day to live. It is a gift that you can be with your friends and relatives, to enjoy life, and to go through thick and thin with your family members. If you can approach everything with a grateful heart, you will be a cheerful person.
