Difference between ancient and modern behavior

In ancient days, being courteous and giving in a little was considered normal, whereas today everyone fights for equality. In ancient days, people spoke in a gentle manner, whereas in today’s environment, many people speak loudly, without much thoughts behind their words. In ancient days, people walked slowly whereas today people run around. In the ancient days, people listened more and talked less, whereas today people like to debate, talk more and listen less.

Being as good as one's word

Some people sometimes say one thing but their action proves otherwise. If you say you are very hungry, but you are not willing to eat any food, how can you alleviate your hunger? If you have a chance to learn from what you see and hear, but you don’t do so, it means you have learned nothing. It is as if you haven’t heard or seen anything. Your word and deed must be consistent.

Truer word cannot be found. You are only as good as your deeds. Too many rely only on words and wonder why they are so frequently disappointed in others.
