君子

在君子手下做事
不用正當的途徑
不可能取悦君子
因君子用才之時
根據人才的才能
去分配工作任務
只要是盡忠職守
可贏得君子賞識

If your boss is a gentleman

If you work for a gentleman, don’t use guile to please him. You must follow procedure and exhibit the right behavior; otherwise you will fail to satisfy him. A boss, who is a gentleman, only values good behavior and talent. He will assign work based on people’s talents and abilities. As long as you take responsibility and perform a good job, your boss will recognize your performance.

小人

在小人手下做事
時常要取悦小人
雖不用正當途徑
小人一樣會歡喜
但小人用才之時
則會是百般挑剔
只重視人際關係
不理個人的才能

If your boss is a self-centered person

If you work for someone who is not a rational manager, you must know that such person needs ego gratification at all times. He/she doesn’t care what method you use to please him/her. Although you may not follow procedure as long as you can please him/her, it is acceptable to him/her. But, when it comes to the use of your talents, it will be a different story. He/she will nitpick you in every possible way. He/she only values how you build your personal relationship with him/her, and pays no attention to your talents and abilities.
